Black and White Wedding Photography

December 13th. 2007 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 8 comments

There is just something about black and white photography. Although I am usually partial to the brilliance of a beautiful, full color photo… when it comes to weddings, the black and white photography will make me tear up every time. It’s timeless, it’s romantic…it’s sort of magical.

I am absolutely smitten with the work over at Artisan Events, a Little Black Book member and a studio that I have admired for years now…

You know that a photographer is pure talent when a black and white image conveys as much intensity and emotion as any photo you’ve ever seen. In these photos, you see sheer happiness, utter romance, playfulness and love…the makings of a work of art. Okay, maybe a bit cheesy, but it’s true. These photographs just warm my heart!

Artisan Events is a member of our Little Black Book. For more information on how members are chosen, click here.

Amanda shot my wedding - it's been 4 and half years, and I still love paging through our pictures. My very favorite looks like a film still from an old romantic movie.

  2. I still love shooting black & white film. Digital is great, but there is nothing quite like a black & white fiber-base print. It's just beautiful.

If you're in Chicago, check out www.reallifeweddings.com too - Steven Gross is the master of black & white wedding photography!!

If you have an opportunity, check out Kelly Moore Photography at kellymoorephotography.com. Her blog is frequently updated with great new stuff. She is located in a small town in Louisiana, but she is really making a name for herself. Her clientele has spread across the South.

  4. Every photographer needs to hear sweet words whispered about their work. The images above our lovely! As everyone switches to perfect bright clean digital images, the grainy B&W film holds it own. It has a more abstract artistic emotional quality. I still haul around a couple film cameras...I just can't give it up yet.
