A Modern, Elegant Soiree

December 3rd. 2007 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 17 comments

Getting a slow start today! But, sometimes it’s just worth the wait…

Today’s featured wedding is completely magazine-worthy. Style Me Pretty helped the bride, Katrina, with a custom inspiration board a few months back and she has been sweet enough to share with us the end result…an absolutely beautiful, art gallery inspired wedding. First, the details…

I absolutely love this color palette…layers of green and chocolate brown. What Katrina did, that a lot of people struggle with, is to create a look that has a clear palette and yet doesn’t seem over designed. Because she incorporated various hues and natural elements, she was able to make a huge impact that also seemed really elegant.

Stay tuned, there is more to come!

  1. Absolutely stunning. Can you please elaborate on the picture in the bottom left hand corner? Is that an hors d'oeuvres?
    Thank you!

This wedding was done so well! I love the updated look of the lime green and brown as compared to the sage and brown that is really popular these days. What type of fern fronds were used? I keep seeing them everywhere and they really help incorporate the color brown into the floral arrangements and boutonnières.

  3. Elizabeth says:

this is absolutely gorgeous! i love the escort cards. and the palette is so organic - she pulled in just enough white and pink neutrals to make the greens and brown pop.

  4. Katrina says:

Thanks ladies, and thanks so much for featuring our wedding Abby. I read the blog religiously throughout planning (ok, and I still do) and I drew a lot of inspiration from this site.

Lisa, the hors d'oeuvres in the bottom left are smoked salmon lollipops served on a bed of wheatgrass.
Meghan, I don't know what the technical name is for those fern fronds, we always called then monkey tails :) They worked great though, and like you said was a great way to bring in some brown and some whimsy.

What was the adorable green box with brown ribbon used for and made out of? I love it!

  7. Alexis says:

I believe the fern fronds are called fiddlehead ferns. Which is basically a completely furled frond before it's had a chance to open. The fiddlehead term seems to apply to any kind of fern so I'm not sure exactly what kind of fern these babies are but if you tell your florist or do a search you should be able to come up with what you want.

  8. Katrina says:

Casey, The green box was actually our ringbearer pillow. It was made out of green button mums and green pearl head pins. It smelled great and lasted forever. It was one of my most favorite details!

    How lovely!

Where are those lovely programs and table cards from? I've not seen anything quite like them.

  12. Cami says:

I love the table numbers! Did they each feature a different love quote on them? Where are they from? Everything is beautiful!

  13. Katrina says:

Each table number has a different quote about art and/or love by a famous artist (since the wedding was in an art gallery). I bought plain sheets of the paper our invitations were printed on and then had the quotes done by our calligrapher in a pale green ink. I give all credit for the table numbers to Abby. She directed me to this site which I used for a lot of the quotes. http://www.artquotes.net/ " rel="nofollow">http://www.artquotes.net/ /> The little silver easels the numbers are on were purchased from Bed, Bath, and Beyond using a whoooole lot of their 20% off coupons :)

  14. Lisa says:

I am curious as to what chairs you used? My color scheme is the same as yours and I wanted to use a glass table charger with silver beads, however, my chairs are gold legged.

  15. Jackie says:

Hello, where did you get the brown tuxedo and the green/brown tie? You're wedding turned out really beautiful! Thank you.

  16. Where can I buy monkey tail fronds

  17. lisa harrell says:
