A Late Summer Color Palette, II
If the first palette that I came up with for Nicole was soft and muted, this one is playful and perhaps a bit lighter…
Left Column from Top: Shoes shot by Elizabeth Messina, Peach and Favor Boxes on Rebecca Thuss. Right Column: Flowers by Wiggy Flowers, Dress on Bluefly
When I was looking at Nicole’s inspiration board, I was really drawn to the peach hues that she included. They seemed to stand out from the rest, a sweet take on a Fall palette. When I was playing around with colors for this second board, I started drawing from the peach…adding pinks, khaki and a deep orange to ground the look. I absolutely love the end result. It seems Summery, but warm. It seems like Fall, but not quite as heavy. To me, it’s a good compliment to the elements that Nicole was working with.

Our color was more apricot and less pink. My husband wore a charcoal suit, white shirt, and a solid, but textured apricot tie. It looked wonderful. So charcoal grey could replace the khaki, although the khaki is more summery for sure! And throw in a slightly muted (i.e. not Barney, Grimace, or periwinkle!) purple in there and I’m telling you it looks really good!

We used peach in our early spring wedding. I’m not a pink girl, but I wanted something very feminine. The peach was perfect.

You nailed it! Beautiful! The second board is very close to what I’m using for a March 2008 wedding, however I’ve added a hint of sage green as its compliment.

I love this one too! Decisions, decisions… thanks so much for tackling my question- I love what you’ve come up with. I think the first one is more ‘me’- perhaps with accents of the tones in this board? You’ve really given me a good sense of direction here. Thanks Abby!
