A Late Summer Color Palette

November 27th. 2007 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 9 comments

I have actually come up with two completely different color palettes for Nicole…one a bit more subtle and romantic, one a bit more playful and lighthearted. Both using “vintage” chic as inspiration.

The first palette is a combination of deep purples, rose and cream.

I absolutely love this palette. It seems really organic and sophisticated. I think that working with colors that are muted and softened, creates a style that is more approachable and real. It seems natural to me, not contrived or over-styled. Accenting with deep golds and crystal brings a bit of sparkle to the look. And of course, candles as far as the eye can see.

And you could add a deep dusky blue in here, and go with silver instead of gold if you wanted. This is totally my palette of choice! I think it works for a evening winter/fall wedding, and you can even make it work for spring and summer if you lighten up the colors a bit, and perhaps add more pink accents. Lovely!

  2. Abby this is stunning. I am so tired of purple but I'm falling for it all over again here. These images can be used to inspire so much. I can't stop swooning.

oh wow...abby, i love what you've done with my ideas and board! this palette is gorgeous. i think i was afraid of muted tones looking too boring or wintry, but the warm romance here is breathtaking. i'm loving all the suggestions here and i can hardly wait to see your other palette! this sentence "It seems natural to me, not contrived or over-styled" is pretty much sums up what i am always going for. thanks so much for posting my question and your answers. i feel honored to be the recipient of such fantastic and personalized inspiration.

    Dear Abby,
This board was in response to my call for help-- and I drew so much inspiration from it. My wedding was Sept 20, and I'd love to share some images and info with you. The whole slew of photos can be found at http://nicoleandpatrick.upstatephotographers.com /> but I'd be happy to pull out some favorites and some detail shots.

Let me know the best way to share! I can email images or whatnot.
