Wedding Color Palette

November 20th. 2007 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 5 comments

I have spent the last few nights fixing up our guest room and scouring the internet to find great prints for its very bare walls. I have been a long time fan of Edward Erlikh’s sketches and watercolors, so I have been dreaming about the day that I can hang some of these. I am especially in love with the bold, hot pink pieces…with touches of black and white. So of course, it got me thinking about wedding palettes.

What if we used these prints, to dream up a bold but sophisticated wedding palette of bright pinks, blacks and whites. Do you think that we could pull it off, while still seeming elegant?

Check back in a few hours to see our Erlikh inspired style board! Oh and in the meantime, check out my interview over at The Brides Cafe! Janie was sweet enough to ask me a few questions about Style Me Pretty and my oh-so-fabulous home life (and when I say oh-so-fabulous, what I really mean is oh-so-totally-average, perhaps-a-little-boring).

Abby, your Feb 6 2007 SMP post on Amy Kuschel inspired artwork for a guest room in our home. I'm moderately creative by far, far, far from an artist and was looking for an inexpensive project with a pretty outcome. I went to Amy's site, traced sketches of 4 gowns onto paper, painted the gowns, red lips and black hair on the models (carefully!) and put them in simple frames. I can send a photo if you'd like.

SMP is SO insprirational! Link to the post referenced above:

OOOH, I LOVE Edward Erlikh. If you're an Edward fan, you should also check out Mats Gustavson, who works in a similar style. Here's a link to his portfolio on his agent's website.(http://www.artandcommerce.com/AAC/C.aspx?VP=SlideShow_VPage&IAPA=1&STY=A&L4=2U1XC58IEAXO&L5=2U1XC58IERN7&L6=2U1XC58IEWVX&XX=Artists )" rel="nofollow">http://www.artandcommerce.com/AAC/C.aspx?VP=SlideShow_VPage&IAPA=1&STY=A&L4=2U1XC58IEAXO&L5=2U1XC58IERN7&L6=2U1XC58IEWVX&XX=Artists) /> I had the opportunity to work with him recently, he's such a sweetheart : )
