Color Palette of Reds…

September 13th. 2007 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 15 comments

When I was a kid, red was my very favorite color. I think someone once told me that if your favorite color was red, you were a naturally fiery person. And, I really wanted to be a fiery person. My favorite color, now, is pink. I wonder what that says about me.

Anyway, today I am loving this fiery, red color palette…it seems festive and alive to me. Like a really fun party…

And speaking of red, a few weeks ago, I was a bridesmaid in my dear friend, Anne’s, wedding…whose color palette was red. Pink and red. Here are a few pictures from her absolutely adorable affair…I will post the entire wedding when we get the pictures back.

Are the dresses J. Crew? They are so simple and so cute, I want to get something similar for my bridesmaids!

I too loved red when I was young, and pink is my favorite color as well (I even had a phase that I dyed my hair pink... talk about being nuts! )

They say that pink denotes love. Red being hot passion and pink is romance and charm.
I think it describes you as a person very well... you love what you do and it shines through your blog. ;)

Those teaser pics of your friend's wedding look amazing! When I finally get married, I think I will have a tough time choosing between a very vibrant red palette or a softer, more romantic pink scheme. :)

Red has always been my favorite colour, though in the past couple of years I have been enamoured with lighter reds like a nice pinky coral. It seems to pop up in everything I do now--when we were choosing colours for our logo/business cards/etc, the first thing I suggested was a beautiful pink-coral (which is what we ended up going with, so that worked out for me).

I always thought I'd have a red wedding. I remember seeing Matt Lauer's wedding pictures - everything was shades of red and so incredible (I think Preston Bailey did it, can't remember). When I did get married, red didn't work with my venue so I ended up using purples, burgandys and bright pinks. I loved it, but I still sigh when I see red used well for a wedding.

    hi abby!
i love the color red too. unfortunately, i do not look good in red. there were some really fantastic reds in the spring 08 fashion shows last week in nyc. i wanted to give props to someone who does look good in red--rebecca thuss, former style director at ms weddings...she happened to do the top 2 right hand images (the red paper lanterns and the candy tray)...the candy tray was for a wedding we did in puerto rico, and rebecca handcrafted each little compartment of the tray. she has her own thing now---thussfarrell.com with her husband, and rebeccathuss.com...anyway, i love this board and the red imagery...and your friend anne's wedding was so beautiful, i can't wait to see more pictures!

I am so loving the candy spread- I have been seeing this display all over the place- they remind me of the vendors at baseball games... and I must say that I am absolutely loving them! I can't wait until next Fall (I have a bride whose fiance is in the minors and we are using these for their butler-passed reception)

Hi Abby, can you please post or send more information the "candy carrier". I am actually looking to have this as an option in my wedding next May. My colors are hot pink, champagne and light blue for the day, hot spanish red and blue w/ cream for a cocktail party after. We chose 2 parties in one day and are going to be host a dinner during the day in a bistro called madison's in hoboken, nj. I would love any other ideas you may have, I love everything in your blog!! I am in love with these bridesmaid dresses! can someone please clarify if they are indeed J. Crew and if so-- how long ago? I can't find any similar color on J. Crew's site and even the style of the dress looks a little off from what they have online. The designer, style no. and actual color would be SO appreciated. they are gorgeous and exactly what i am looking for!
