*spoiler alert…if you haven’t already read the new Martha Stewart, this is a feature from that mag!
I am officially in love. This season’s Martha Stewart Weddings features some of the most over-the-top, gorgeous wedding cakes I have ever seen. Beyond gorgeous. Perfection. One part calligraphy, one part color and confection…basically a wedding invitation designer’s dream come true…
New photos are in! I just got the new images that have been taken of the Abby Jean wedding line and they are so cute, I had to share them with you. The photos were all taken by Rinne Allen…
This first design is called Sophie. It is sweet but sophisticated, with a little vintage flair. This particular design is letterpressed with a faded black/brown ink, then uses the striped reception card to bring in a bit of color. Believe it or not, the silhouettes are actually replicas of those that my mom and her brother had done when they were kids. The cool thing about this particular invitation suite is that you can send us your own photographs and we will customize the silhouettes for you!
I can’t stop staring at that gorgeous necklace, by Saylor Sage, featured on yesterday’s board. I spent the morning just pouring over her website and I can’t believe that I haven’t maxed out my credit card already buying up all of her amazing designs…
The necklaces range from $48 to nearly $600 (with most falling in the $128 range). Perfect for your maid of honor gift. Also, check out the “what’s new” section…some seriously great clutches and bangles.
Can one color, one photo, one cake… inspire an entire affair? When I saw this cake designed by Lark Cake Shop, I was totally convinced.
I am in love with this cake. One part whimsy, one part beauty. Although it isn’t a traditional wedding cake, it seems sophisticated and elegant enough to hold its own at a any wedding. So for me, the answer is yes. A color, a photo, a cake….all can inspire your entire affair.
Here is my wedding board, inspired by the above Lark Cake Shop creation…
This inspiration board was designed by one of our readers, Sherri, for her little sister Annie…appropriately titled “Annie’s Delightfully Charming Backyard Bash.”
Color theme: Grass Green and Sunshine Yellow / Invitation: Hanalei by Kenzie Kate / Centerpieces: Featuring several small vases, each with a lush bunch of a single type of flower. The frame would include a photo of Annie’s beloved pug and the table number. (by Nancy Liu Chin Designs, San Francisco) / Bridesmaid dresses: Cotton dresses in grass green by Banana Republic (image from theknot gallery) / Cakes: Playfully designed cakes in the image of the bride and groom. (photo by Rob and Lauren Photography) / Details: photos by various photographers, including Becker, Jessica Claire, Laurence Kim, Henry Chan, and Tony Yang
The girls over at Lily Darby emailed me this morning to let me know about their newest line of invitations…when I saw their work, I went nuts over it! So incredibly chic. Innovative. Completely unique. I love when up and coming, small businesses start making waves and setting new standards for design and Lily Darby is doing just that. How great are these invitations…
This suite was designed for a couple being married in a historic, New England yarn and ribbon mill. They wanted each piece to be a keepsake of sorts for their guests.
I love this event done by Hatch Creative Studio in NY. The soft greens, the tea lights in mason jars, the creamy white flowers and the miniature magnifying glasses…every detail is so pretty and delicate. This is the perfect look for a Sunday wedding or a really intimate family affair.
Although I don’t know Hatch’s specific resources for the items featured above, I did find my own interpretation of the pieces…
You can find really similar bowls, white chopsticks and square chargers at Pearl River. The mason jars in various sizes at Container and Packaging. The tea lights can be bought in bulk at the Discount Candle Shop. And the cute magnifying glass favors can be found at Oriental Trading.
Before we begin today’s post, I wanted to let everyone know about the wedding dress donation event that Brides Magazine and Good Morning America are teaming up for. Here is the press release from the editors…

Yesterday could have possibly been the greatest day that I have ever had. Well okay, my wedding was the greatest day. Yesterday was a pretty close second. Style Me Pretty, along with four other wonderful blogs, was featured by Martha Stewart on her morning show. Yep, it’s true. She opened the show with a little segment on blogs, then mentioned a few of us in the audience, mine included! It was SUCH an honor and to be honest, I don’t think that a single producer there knew that I wasn’t completely over the moon. I had a hard time keeping the silly, little girl grin off my face, I clapped a little too loudly and I jumped up to lead the standing ovation when Martha walked out. Well at least that is what I was doing in my head:)
ng PhotoThe lovely and oh-so-talented photographer, Elizabeth Messina, has been gracious enough to share a few more of her favorite weddings with me. I absolutely love this one…such sweet sophistication with a natural elegance and style. A look that I know so many of you are after…
I have fallen madly in love with the fluffy pink peonies paired with that gorgeous lace dress. The colors and textures make the affair seem completely romantic, which of course, is just what a wedding should be.
