This first design is called Sophie. It is sweet but sophisticated, with a little vintage flair. This particular design is letterpressed with a faded black/brown ink, then uses the striped reception card to bring in a bit of color. Believe it or not, the silhouettes are actually replicas of those that my mom and her brother had done when they were kids. The cool thing about this particular invitation suite is that you can send us your own photographs and we will customize the silhouettes for you!

I can’t stop staring at that gorgeous necklace, by Saylor Sage, featured on yesterday’s board. I spent the morning just pouring over her website and I can’t believe that I haven’t maxed out my credit card already buying up all of her amazing designs…
The necklaces range from $48 to nearly $600 (with most falling in the $128 range). Perfect for your maid of honor gift. Also, check out the “what’s new” section…some seriously great clutches and bangles.
Lark Cake Shop - Inspired Weddings
Can one color, one photo, one cake… inspire an entire affair? When I saw this cake designed by Lark Cake Shop, I was totally convinced.
I am in love with this cake. One part whimsy, one part beauty. Although it isn’t a traditional wedding cake, it seems sophisticated and elegant enough to hold its own at a any wedding. So for me, the answer is yes. A color, a photo, a cake….all can inspire your entire affair.

This suite was designed for a couple being married in a historic, New England yarn and ribbon mill. They wanted each piece to be a keepsake of sorts for their guests.
Event Design by Hatch Creative
I love this event done by Hatch Creative Studio in NY. The soft greens, the tea lights in mason jars, the creamy white flowers and the miniature magnifying glasses…every detail is so pretty and delicate. This is the perfect look for a Sunday wedding or a really intimate family affair.
Although I don’t know Hatch’s specific resources for the items featured above, I did find my own interpretation of the pieces…
You can find really similar bowls, white chopsticks and square chargers at Pearl River. The mason jars in various sizes at Container and Packaging. The tea lights can be bought in bulk at the Discount Candle Shop. And the cute magnifying glass favors can be found at Oriental Trading.

Yesterday could have possibly been the greatest day that I have ever had. Well okay, my wedding was the greatest day. Yesterday was a pretty close second. Style Me Pretty, along with four other wonderful blogs, was featured by Martha Stewart on her morning show. Yep, it’s true. She opened the show with a little segment on blogs, then mentioned a few of us in the audience, mine included! It was SUCH an honor and to be honest, I don’t think that a single producer there knew that I wasn’t completely over the moon. I had a hard time keeping the silly, little girl grin off my face, I clapped a little too loudly and I jumped up to lead the standing ovation when Martha walked out. Well at least that is what I was doing in my head:)

How gorgeous are these pieces from Abaloria, an oh-so-chic designer out of Seattle…
You can shop online and choose from a gorgeous selection of handmade pieces, or if you are lucky enough to live in the Seattle area, you can pop into her studio for a visit and create your own custom piece. Her prices are insanely reasonable (from $50 for a pair of earrings) for something that she handcrafts and would make for the PERFECT bridesmaid gift. The necklaces and bracelets are a little pricier though would be a lovely treat for yourself!
I am heading to Dallas for a couple of days to shower my BFF, whose getting married in November, with wedding attention so I won’t be doing a new post today. But, since I didn’t want to leave you empty handed, I thought that I would post this adorable inspiration board that I received from one of our readers, Martha.

This one I call “Wedding Swirls”. I came across this photo of a spiral lawn and thought what a fun idea to use for a wedding. I took the spiral shape (or swirl) and used it as a theme for a wedding. In every picture there is a spiral…antique metal urns, the roses, a Dior dress that encircles the body, Valentino shoes ( look closely at the heel), stone garden ornament, insect pins on ferns, cake with icing swirled on the side, and the braid coiled into a bun for a bride.
When I was a kid, red was my very favorite color. I think someone once told me that if your favorite color was red, you were a naturally fiery person. And, I really wanted to be a fiery person. My favorite color, now, is pink. I wonder what that says about me.
Anyway, today I am loving this fiery, red color palette…it seems festive and alive to me. Like a really fun party…
And speaking of red, a few weeks ago, I was a bridesmaid in my dear friend, Anne’s, wedding…whose color palette was red. Pink and red. Here are a few pictures from her absolutely adorable affair…I will post the entire wedding when we get the pictures back.
Today is Q & A day…I have received a ton of emails over the last few weeks with some really great questions that every couple seems to face. Here are a few that I thought we could tackle together. I would love to hear your thoughts and comments, then I will post my own answers later in the day. There is no right or wrong way to approach the answers…it is just great to hear from our huge variety of readers.
Question 1: I’m having a tough time coming up with a color palette for our wedding that feels right. The dilemma is that we recently had to find a new venue after learning that our old venue had been double booked. This proved really difficult, and though our new space is very nice, it wasn’t really what I had originally been envisioning. I loved our last venue, and had a palette I really loved. But, the old palette just doesn’t feel right in the new space.
