Wedding Invitations by Chewing the Cud

One of my favorite readers, Viola, sent me some photos of the invitations that she recently designed for her wedding. They are so unbelievably great, I just had to share them with you…

The invitations were in one part inspired by To Kill A Mockingbird…the couple’s all time favorite story. The second row of photos is a fake book club poster, with “readers questions” on the back. Things like “Who’s the spa junkie, Phillip or Viola?” followed by information on nearby spas. The color palette is a Robin’s Egg Blue and a Deep Cocoa. The additional inspiration was drawn from bird motifs and various childhood treasures. The end result…perfection.

I am love with how closely they captured the spirit of their personalities in these invitations. They truly do set the tone for the entire affair.Viola recently started a freelance design career and her company “Chewing the Cud” will launch in the upcoming months. Here are a few other great invitations that she has done…

Viola and Phillip are in the final throws of wedding planning, but I am hoping that when all is said and done, she will share the whole vision with us as I know that it will be incredible! Thanks, Viola!

  4. Kelly says:

Those are lovely! I'm making my own invites and would love to know what kind of paper she used and where she did the printing!

  5. Violet says:

We're doing our own invites, as well. We actually wanted to get them made, but because we are inviting so few people, no place was willing to take on the project unless we purchased FAR more than we need at some ungodly price. But, in the end I'm quite happy; we get to unleash our inner artist, have very personal invites, and all for a small price (the joys of still being a student). I'd love to know where to get such great quality paper!

  6. Kelly says:

These are simply stunning. Original, but gorgeous.
I love the attention to all the details...
and those stamps... my fiancé would love to have those on the envelopes ;)

Thank you guys for your kind words. The paper I used is Crane's Lettra in Ecru. It's made especially for letterpress and comes in a bright white as well. The poster was done in an 80lb wt matte (don't know the stock; the printer said it was leftover from another job, so he gave it to me for free!) and I printed the meal ticket on kraft paper with my little epson. It was Phillip's idea to use the superhero stamps, I love them!!

Please feel free to email me to be added to my mailing list. I'll be sure to keep you posted when chewing the cud officially launches. cheers!

  9. I love this unique style. This is a wedding you know will be spectacular. I too can't wait until Chewing the Curd launches. Congrats on the upcoming nuptials!

my what a lovely and personal set you have there... I am so excited to find new faces in the paper + ink industry... it is my most favorite part of the whole event design process... you simply must keep me updated as to when your collection launches!

  11. As the lucky florist involved with Viola and Phillip we can assure all interested that the flowers will be a perfect match to all of the print materials you have viewed! Birch would love to be involved in a post event image posting.

And as a small preview, think hollowed out books filled with floral "bookmarks" for the bridesmaids....and a giant nest filled with petals for the flower girl.

    Go Viola!

    your fan,

    Torryne
