From Avalon…

We were married on 08.10.07 in Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, CA and used a dark chocolate, white, and aqua color palette. We let the natural setting around us infuse the wedding with different shades of green. We wanted our wedding to be simple, elegant, and special, which is what led me to choose these nine pictures in particular.

One of my favorite readers, Viola, sent me some photos of the invitations that she recently designed for her wedding. They are so unbelievably great, I just had to share them with you…

The invitations were in one part inspired by To Kill A Mockingbird…the couple’s all time favorite story. The second row of photos is a fake book club poster, with “readers questions” on the back. Things like “Who’s the spa junkie, Phillip or Viola?” followed by information on nearby spas. The color palette is a Robin’s Egg Blue and a Deep Cocoa. The additional inspiration was drawn from bird motifs and various childhood treasures. The end result…perfection.

They will even package them individually, so that you can just adorn them with your own cute label or bow. They are so darn cute, though, you really don’t even need to add anything!

My friend, Damon, recently emailed me to let me know about his awesome new company…ScanCafe.

Here is how it works…you sift thru all of your old photos, negatives, slides, anything really. You package them up in a box then print a UPS label from the ScanCafe site (they pay for it) and drop off the package at the nearest UPS. Once they get it, they upload all of your old photos into your own personal database. From there, you choose the photos you love (only paying for those you actually use) and either have them re-printed, turned into an album or a slideshow DVD, or simply get all your photos organized into one tidy online location…they even restore your old photos if need be.
