Inspiration Board Contest

Today is a good day. It's a contest day. It's been a while, I know...

For the next week (ending next Friday), we will be having an all out, no holds bar, inspiration board contest. Since inspiration boards are becoming all the rage, and much of that excitement was born here at Style Me Pretty, I thought it was time to celebrate the growing number of creative, style-savvy brides and grooms out...

Wedding Cakes

update...I am going to be working on my blog design today, so forgive me if there are little hiccups here and there!

I woke up this morning thinking about chocolate. Chocolate cake, actually.

My problem is...I have become completely and unabashedly addicted to the food/life/love/everything blog, Orangette. Last night, I read her post about...

Wedding Photography by Heather Waraksa

I love, love, love the photos that Heather Waraksa has been snapping. They are one part sophisticated, one part fun...magazine worthy in my opinion. I thought that Heather's photos could provide hours upon hours of inspiration for you (while you are probably supposed to be doing something else)...from color palettes to flowers, from food to photography.

If you are lucky enough to live in the New York area, give Heather a call...

Inspiration Board: Rustic Romance

One of our loyal readers, Vanessa, sent me a plea for inspiration...literally, her email was titled "plea for inspiration." She is so clearly on the right track with color and style, she just needs a little help pulling the elements together. Vanessa and her fiance, Michael, are getting married at this super-fab spot in Napa Valley, California. I actually had a lovely weekend with my husband and his parents at this same resort a few years back. It...

Wedding Flowers By Janie Medley Flora

I couldn't wait to tell you guys about Janie Medley Flora Designs...an oh-so-fabulous florist out of the DC/Virginia area. Janie emailed me with new pics of some of her gorgeous designs and I have to say, they are stunning. And even more incredible than her flowers...she has only been in business for, get this...two years. Just goes to show that true passion and creativity are really what you need to produce great work.

Wedding Stationery by Fontaine Maury

In our Q & A session the other day, someone mentioned giving silhouette gifts...well, I have something even better! The girls over at Fontaine Maury have come up with this brilliant new idea for using silhouettes elegantly and timelessly. In a nutshell, you send them a photo of you and your hubby (or you, your hubby, your pup, your kids...whatever really) and they will integrate your custom silhouette into wallpaper, fabric or...

Wedding Invitations by A Day In May

A Day In May Design is a lovely invitation studio, based out of San Francisco. I was just perusing their site and have fallen in love with the soft elegance of their work...

One of the coolest things about this studio, is that you can do a lot of the work online. From choosing your invitation style and ink color, to adding envelope liners and even rounded edging. Once you have come up with your design, you just phone in your order. Easy...

Dear Abby

A couple of our readers had some great questions that I was hoping you guys could help me with...

Q: I was wondering if you could help me with a problem. I bought a beautiful lace sheath for my wedding, but I have no idea what type of veil or headpiece to wear with it. I'm not extremely traditional, and the overall vibe of my wedding is rustic southern elegance. I would love it if you could give me a suggestion. I attached pictures of my gown for reference.

Pink & Teal Color Palette

My adorable sister-in-law, Carrie, is getting married next August at the Cape in New England. She has had a tough time choosing her palette because she wants to find a balance between color and elegance...sometimes a difficult task! But, she has settled on a palette of a fuschia pink, dark teal and creamy white. I love the combo and wanted to share her board with you. Not so much an inspiration board, simply a color board that will help Carrie balance the three hues.

Real Wedding: Katherine & Brandt, II

More from Katherine's stunning Black and White Affair...

Katherine infused the most beautiful, creative details into this wedding that I wanted her to share with you...

We designed the invitation to represent both our initials. The 'K' for me, surrounded by a burning heart, laser cut into the card and symbolic for my husbands name 'Brandt' which means 'burn'.

This symbol of our initials became the 'logo' for the wedding and was applied to black and...

Real Wedding Katherine & Brandt, I

Writing a blog is tough. It takes time and patience to create something that readers will enjoy day after day. There are often days when I don't feel particularly inspired or creative...and there are days where I get so busy, it is incredibly difficult to find a couple of hours to devote to Style Me Pretty.

But then, I get a sweet email from a reader, or a "congratulations" from a great magazine editor, or simply a nod from another designer...and I am always reinvigorated and...

I thought that since it's Monday, ugh, we could start the day off right with another reader's inspiration board. Anne's recent trip to Mexico inspired this gorgeous palette of deep red, indigo blue and linen white. In a word...stunning.
