Wow, what a story! You can checkout…Vanilla Bake Shop (http://www.vanillabakeshop.com). They are new, actually they are having their grand opening on July 11. They are located on Santa Monica in Santa Monica near the 3rd St Promenade.

I met the owner Amy at A Soolip Wedding in March. She’s been doing cakes for a while but is now opening a store. You can contact her via the email address on her website. The work she had on display at A Soolip Wedding was impressive and tasted great too.

Callie…what a NIGHTMARE!!! Holy Cow. I am so sorry that happened to you! Although I will say it provided some much comic relief for my rough day. I feel bad saying that, but you know what I mean:)

Here is Splendora’s list (a site that I use all the time for sources) for wedding cakes in LA though I see lady jane is on there. I will also ask around and see who my customers recommend.

My Los Angeles wedding is in 3 months and we just had a terrible experience with Sweet Lady Jane that I wrote about here: http://www.laist.com/2007/06/08/sweet_my_ass_or.php

The good news is that many, many comments recommended Buttercake Bakery. I was just finalizing my list of bakeries to check out and your post on the lovely ladies at Buttercake has won me over! They’re at the top of the list!
